My name is Ian Cocks. I’m a 60-year-old businessman and I live in Portsmouth, England. I started my own accountancy practice in 1992 and I sold it to the management earlier this year.
As part of my ‘retirement’ (I don’t like to call it that btw!) I rekindled a long lost interest in photography, completing the online Open University Digital Photography course in June. As a result of the course I am lucky enough to have three photographs shown on the RPS website (http://www.rps.org/technical/gallery?a=%7B4231F28B-1A6A-4498-BB7D-12D8D4AF3092%7D).
The reason I enrolled on the OCA degree course is to provide a structured approach to my photographic development. I have spent many hours looking at the curated website 1X.COM and greatly admire some of the photographs displayed. This has inspired me to improve my technical and artistic skills, develop a personal style and learn how to critique and contextualise the photographs I see and produce.
