Davies is a British landscape photographer. Much of his work is large format black and white images of industrial and urban British landscapes.
In 2008 he completed a colour series entitled Fuji City. The series comprises square format images of industrial or urban Fuji City all featuring Mount Fuji in the background.
(Davies, 2008)
I decided to emulate Davies when producing Assignment 5 both in terms of the use of colour and including my main subject (in my case a house) incidentally within each image.
I found it to be a really interesting way of visually tying the main subject into a series of shots. The technique allows the surrounding area, in his case the greater Mount Fuji area and in mine the garden/objects, to be place in context with the main subject. What would otherwise appear as a random collection of items are visually connected. Clever!
