I first became aware of Rebecca’s work when I attended her BA Grad Show at Oxford Brookes University in 2018. Rebecca’s art is inspired by music. The painting below, which particularly caught my attention, was inspired by The Zombies track ‘Time of the Season’.
The black line through this large painting represents Rebecca moving through her life and the bursts of colour signify windows of future opportunities.

Having completed her MA in 2019, Rebecca has been working recently on a new series using acrylic on canvas. It is a matter of interest to me how young artists transition from their student lives to professional artist. Clearly talent plays its part but, from what I’ve seen, hard work and persistence are equally important. And Rebecca doesn’t lack any of these essential characteristics.
I was lucky enough to be invited to her first ‘professional’ show (as featured in the London Evening Standard!) at the Koppel Project Gallery, Soho. There were 13 paintings for sale and she sold 12! Fantastic.
My particular favourite (below) was a painting based on the Albert King track ‘The Sky is Crying’.
