Reflection pre-tutor feedback
Demonstration of technical and visual skills – Materials, technical, observational skills, visual awareness, design and compositional skills. (40%)
I would regard my compositional skills as lacking at this stage so I found this module quite challenging. Having said that, I’ve learnt a lot from the Point and Line exercises. I certainly feel as though I can read and analyse a photograph with more understanding than before.
There was no specific assignment for Part 1 but nevertheless I try to produce interesting images to satisfy the exercises. I took the opportunity to experiment with new post processing ideas.
Quality of outcome – Content, Application of knowledge, presentation of work in a coherent manner, discernment, conceptualisation of thoughts, communication of ideas. (20%)
I am reasonably happy with the shots taken.
Demonstration of creativity – Imagination, experimentation, invention. (20%)
Limited opportunities in Part 1 but I have tried to produce interesting images to complete the exercises.
Context – reflection, research, critical thinking. (20%)
I struggled with the initial Point exercise but having read Michael Freeman’s ‘The Photographer’s Eye’ I have a better understanding of compositional techniques.
I have started my research blog into the various practitioners mentioned in the manual and I have considered Medium Specificity.
I have visited Tate Modern, Saatchi and V&A galleries this week. I will be writing up my thoughts on these amazing galleries in due course.
